DELCY RODRÍGUEZ, THE NEW FACE OF THE CHAVISTA REGIME
By Carlos GalvisFebruary 03, 2026Following the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3rd, the Venezuelan criminal regime has entered a "mutation" phase in an attempt to survive its own collapse. Today, one month after that historic event, Delcy Rodríguez presents herself with a facade of “transition and national reconciliation” never before seen among members of the dictatorship. However, this new face is nothing more than a mirage: hundreds of people remain arbitrarily and unjustly detained for political reasons, subjected to mistreatment and precarious isolation, where their families are unable to communicate with them or even know their whereabouts.
This situation, both critical and UNACCEPTABLE, continues to demonstrate the regime's true intentions and makes one thing very clear: the regime has lost its face, Nicolás Maduro, but the repressive body and brain remain standing. It is, quite possibly, a structure more dangerous than before, fueled by the paranoia generated following the military operation that led to the tyrant's capture.
To understand the danger she represents, one must look at her track record. Delcy is not a technical or moderate figure; she has been the architect of international cover-ups since the days of Hugo Chávez. As Chancellor and Vice President, her role was systematic: while the UN Fact-Finding Mission documented torture and crimes against humanity, she used international forums to deny the humanitarian crisis, acting as a direct accomplice to the impunity that has bled our nation dry.
Today, Delcy portrays herself as "Interim President," yet her administration lacks all legitimacy. While the regime's propaganda laboratories, such as the pollster Hinterlaces, attempt to sell a fictitious 79% approval rating, the reality on the streets and in independent data is devastating. According to the most recent study by Gold Glove Consulting, reported by the Financial Times, actual support for Chavismo under Rodríguez’s command barely reaches a 25% voting intention. Even more damning for her political ambitions: 66% of Venezuelans demand general elections in less than six months. The people did not elect her; she simply inherited power from a usurper who stole the popular will in 2024.
Alongside her brother, Jorge Rodríguez—the machiavellian mind behind the laws criminalizing protest and the leading figure of institutional manipulation—she has consolidated a power that represents the most dangerous threat to our democracy. They are not politicians; they are operators of a multi-billion dollar embezzlement model. Under their control of PDVSA and the economy, the country has seen billions of dollars vanish—money that should have been invested in hospitals and schools—which is why both remain sanctioned by the OFAC and the European Union for undermining democratic institutions.
As of today, February 3, 2026, the repression under Delcy’s command has not ceased. The use of the "External Commotion Decree" to persecute those who celebrated Maduro’s fall is definitive proof that the essence of the regime remains intact. As an activist and a citizen, my message is blunt: there is no "Chavismo" without Maduro that is acceptable. The only valid transition is the total dismantling of the Rodríguez criminal network and the immediate return to popular sovereignty. Venezuela does not want a new face for the dictatorship; Venezuela demands liberty and full democracy.
THE REGIME IS STILL THERE. THE FIGHT CONTINUES.
